Household water purifiers are now being used more and more.

It can be said that at this stage, nine out of ten friends who are renovating their homes will consider installing water purifiers.
It can also be seen from this that water purifiers have become a necessity in our lives.
However, for most of our families, we don’t know much about some of the situations of water purifiers.

And water purifiers may have some abnormalities in daily use. These abnormalities should arouse our vigilance.
If the water purifier has these abnormalities, can it still be drunk? Don’t be careless, these situations should arouse vigilance.

Susan shares this article: Abnormal water output of water purifiers. The full text is divided into five parts: water with bubbles; water output is white; water output is sweet; water output is turbid; water output has a strange smell.
(I) - Bubbles

There are many bubbles in the water coming out of the water purifier. I believe many friends have seen it.
In fact, this is also an abnormal situation of the water purifier.
I believe many friends have noticed this situation, that is, we use a cup to collect the water coming out of the water purifier and find that there are many bubbles in the cup.

However, for these bubbles in the water, they will naturally disappear after a period of time.
At this time, you don’t need to pay too much attention, because most of them are normal.
And the situation with bubbles is generally a newly installed water purifier or a newly replaced filter element.

For many bubbles in the water purifier, it may be caused by the following reasons:

①, a new water purifier or a new filter element. At this time, because there is a lot of air in the activated carbon pores, it will enter the water later, and the air will dissolve in the water, thereby generating a large number of bubbles.

②, there is gas in the tap water network. For example, when the tap water network is repaired, the water is stopped and the water is restarted, this situation will occur. Because the solubility of the gas in the pipe network in water increases, it dissolves in the tap water. When the water comes out, bubbles appear.

③. The water outlet is mixed with external air. Especially when the water flow from the faucet is fast, the water column is easy to collide with the water cup and produce some bubbles. At this time, if you bring the cup closer, there may be fewer bubbles.

From this, it can be seen that the water purifier has bubbles in the water, which is a physical phenomenon. In this case, it generally does not affect the water quality. Therefore, we don't have to worry too much.

►Treatment measures:

①. For newly installed water purifiers, you can observe for two or three days. Generally speaking, after using it for a period of time, the bubbles will naturally disappear.

②. Let it stand and observe. Make a cup of water to see if the bubbles inside will disappear naturally. If they all disappear naturally after standing for a few minutes, there is basically no impact.

There is another situation that may occur when the water purifier is discharging water, that is, the water is white.

If we take a cup of tap water and then a cup of water from the water purifier, and compare them together, we will find that its color is white.
For the water purifier, it is completed by filtering with a filter element. The filter element must ensure the water's penetration, so the surface of the filter element membrane is hydrophilic.

However, the membrane matrix of a general water purifier is hydrophobic, so a hydrophilic modifier must be used for modification. General hydrophilic agents have a certain degree of amphiphilicity, which will cause a large amount of foam and cause the water to turn white.

Therefore, the whitening of the water from the water purifier is generally caused by the following reasons:

①. After the first use or after replacing the filter element, if the water filtered by the water purifier has foam or whitening, it is due to the trace amount of hydrophilic agent that may remain in the water.

②. For hydrophilic agents, you can rest assured. Because medical-grade and edible-grade hydrophilic agents (protective liquids) are basically harmless to the human body. Therefore, there is no need to worry too much about this kind of whitening.

►Treatment measures:

①. We only need to turn on the water purifier and the water faucet when using it for the first time, and thoroughly rinse the filter element. In fact, it is to put more water out.

②. If we don't know how to rinse, we can put water for a while. The method is to open the water purifier, and then add a little more water until the color is normal.

(III) - Sweet water

Many friends may find such a phenomenon, that is, the water from the water purifier tastes sweet.
This means that we drink the water filtered by the water purifier, and then feel a little sweet. In fact, this shows that the taste of water can be changed after the water purifier is filtered.
Because a lot of tap water is treated with chlorine, the taste is not good.

The reason why the water filtered by the water purifier is sweet is actually caused by the following reasons:

①, the effect after filtration. The activated carbon in the filter element removes the metals, chlorine and chlorine compounds in the tap water. Especially after eliminating the chlorine in it, the taste of the water will change significantly.

②, after removing the chlorine in the tap water, we drink this filtered water compared with the original tap water, there is a significant change, the taste will become better, and most of the time the water feels sweet.

Therefore, the sweetness of water after being filtered by a water purifier is not due to the water quality, but a problem with our taste.

(IV) - Turbid water output

When using a household water purifier, you should pay attention to one situation, that is, the condition of the water after filtration.

If we find that the water filtered by the water purifier is turbid, we should be alert. Of course, the water filtered by the water purifier is very turbid, and the probability of this happening is very small. However, often due to the water purifier, the water output may be turbid.

For these, we need to understand some of the possible causes:

①, ultrafiltration membrane damage. Generally, it is caused by excessive pressure at the outlet of the water purifier or pressure fluctuations. After that, the ultrafiltration membrane ruptures, and the water output becomes turbid.

②, seal ring wear. Because there is a seal ring on the top of the filter element, if the water purifier at home is used for a long time, the seal ring may be worn. After that, it may cause turbid water output.

③, the water purifier is not used for a long time. Like when we go out, there may be no one at home, and the water purifier is not used for a long time at home. At this time, if you use the water purifier again, you will find that the water coming out may be turbid.

►Solution:

①. If the water purifier is used frequently and the water suddenly becomes turbid, it is generally because the ultrafiltration membrane inside is broken. At this time, the solution is to replace a new ultrafiltration membrane filter element.

②. If the water purifier is used all year round and the water gradually becomes turbid, then we should consider the problem of the sealing ring on the filter element. At this time, we can generally ask the after-sales service of the water purifier to come to us for inspection.

③. If the water purifier is not used for a long time, then we must try to clean the filter element. If it cannot be cleaned, it is recommended that you replace the filter element.
(V) - The water has a strange smell

There is another situation that needs to be alerted to the water output of the water purifier, that is, the water has a strange smell. The purpose of installing a water purifier is to make the water quality better and taste better.

However, often due to some reasons, you will find that the water filtered by the water purifier has a strange smell. In fact, for all water with strange smells, everyone should be alert.

Because for normal tap water, except for some smells of disinfectant, there will be no other smells. After being treated by a water purifier, the smell of disinfectant water is gone. Therefore, there should be no odor.
The reasons why the water after the water purifier has been treated and filtered has an odor are generally as follows:

①. The filter element of the water purifier is aging. Like the water purifiers in many friends' homes, they may only know how to use them and never change the filter element. If this situation lasts for a long time, the filtered water may have an odor.

②. The water purifier has not been used for a long time, and it may have an odor when it is suddenly used. Like many friends, there may be no one at home, and the water purifier has not been used for several months or even all year round. If it is used suddenly at this time, it may also have an odor.

③. The reason for tap water. In this case, the tap water is generally contaminated. For example, it may be due to a damaged pipe network. This situation occurs in a large area and the probability of occurrence is very small.

►Solution:

①. After discovering that the tap water has an odor, stop using it in time to avoid harm. After that, find the specific cause.

②. If it is caused by the water purifier, it is recommended that you check the filter element of the water purifier. For example, you can replace the filter or clean it, which can basically solve these problems.

Everyone should be familiar with household water purifiers. However, some abnormal situations that occur are not well understood.
In this article, Susan introduces five situations to everyone. Some are normal phenomena, and some situations need to arouse our vigilance. I hope everyone can remember these situations clearly! Water filtered from water purifiers on the market is generally categorized into two types, purified water and pure water. Among them, pure water refers to H2O without impurities. Tap water is filtered through RO (reverse osmosis) membranes, which can remove heavy metals, organics, scale, bacteria, viruses and other harmful substances, filter out minerals, and turn into pure water. Pure water contains almost no other substances and can be drunk straight.
